Services - Drilling Boreholes

CGS has its own extensive machinery warehouse which includes boring machinery, with drilling capabilities of 70,000 meters per year and the ability to reach depths of 1,200 meters. CGS has drilled nearly 10,000 boreholes with a total of 1.2 million meters.

CGS drills wells for the research and mining of groundwater, geotechnics, mining, geothermal energy, piezometric control, landfill control, waste storage, etc. …with the following characteristics:

• Vertical and with any angle
• Drilled with tricone bits with reverse circulation
• Continuous core sampling

Also, CGS has multipurpose machinery for groundwater collection that perform both rotary percussion (hard land) and reverse circulation (soft land) drilling.

Furthermore, the drilling machinery equipment includes five additional probes (two on trucks and three on chains) which incorporate reverse rotary percussion and continuous sampling systems and are able to change between the two at any depth. The system, the most modern currently used in Spain, is very flexible and cost saving. This machinery is particularly recommended for mine research and reserve calculation in addition to research related to deposits at depth, hydrogeology, geothermal energy, industrial rocks and any research concerning deep subsoil which requires a fast and effective response.

During drilling or during withdrawal, CGS performs geophysical testing, special cementing, well development, pumping tests, hydraulic tests (slug, pulse) and angle control.
